When preparing for a corporate show I always make it a point to gather some information about the company, their product, service, philosophy and so on. This enables me to customize my magic performance making it that much more distinctive and personal to that individual client.
I recently had the pleasure of performing my magic along with a very close fellow magician friend of mine. The occasion was an open house for a company’s new headquarters. The company was SeQuel Response, a marketing firm located in Eden Prairie, MN.
When I looked up SeQuel’s website, I found something quite interesting. On their home page was a close up image of the (Creation of Adam) scene from Michelangelo’s Sistine ceiling fresco. Even more interesting was SeQuel’s slogan: Masters in the art and science of acquiring new customers.
I was thoroughly intrigued.
As I mentioned, the Magic occasion was an open house celebrating SeQuel’s new headquarters. When I walked into their beautifully laid out facility I was immediately drawn to the fine art and photography displayed on their walls. In keeping with their slogan the images were of famous artists, master works of art and renowned scientists. What a creative and inspirational environment!
I had come prepared. I had arranged a unique artistic and magical presentation.
Similar to SeQuel’s goal of merging art and science, here I would blend art and magic! With a deck of playing cards I would magically recreate a masterpiece! Like Michelangelo’s fresco, it was another very famous Renaissance painting. The deck of playing cards would act both as my “brush” and my “medium.” And within the recreated masterpiece the audience’s chosen card would magically be revealed.
It has always been my goal to blend my two art forms, the magical arts and the visual arts. To bring art into my magic and magic into my art, here was an opportunity where I could apply this quite literally.
The evening was a very fun time for all! What a wonderful group of people to work with.
